evaluation question 4.

4. Who would be the audience for your media product?
Media 1

evaluation question 3.

3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I think many different music distributors will want too publish my magazine idea. Levelprint Ltd worked and distributes i-D which is an online magazine however it does have many different forms my magazine has also, for example the audience category, some of the music genres, the colour schemes and the style also. Or ABC they distribute many different magazines, from music too men’s health. I would like my magazine to be distributed by one of these as both of them have magazines with the similar ideas to my magazine, and it's not just about music but also the fashion in music, as what the artist is wearing has a very big impact on their performance. Also there magazines are not just aimed at one particular audience like male or female but both and all categories so they have a wide mind of knowledge. Although my magazine is going to cost £2.30 and the magazine i-D is £5.00 there is kinda  difference, however I think if it was sold in a music store it would really help boost the profits. I think the reason my institution would like my magazine is because it's different, in many ways the same, however some of the features are not near simular. My magazine targets and focuse's on quite a small group in the industry therefore the magazine will be know what to target on each issue, however the stories involved in the magazine will be inspiring to music, and that's what so different about my magazine, although simular situations in other magazines may occur with those types of stories, this is in the music industry.

evaluation question 2.

2. How does your media product represent particular social groups ?
The social groups my magazine aims at is more middle class, young adults who are inspired by music, I think it aims at both white and black males and females, I wanted my magazine too have both a male and female audience, however when looking at my magazine it could look quite feminine because of the colours and the image of the girl, however it does say special edition which could make the males realise the next issue could be more about males. The image on the right was taken off the internet however I think it represents my magazine, I wanted it to have style, I think my magazine audience have style, for example an 18 year old female, who takes pride in what they wear, be creative with their looks,  however they got their style based on a musician, with my magazine I think it could be based on styling other people, with other people's images, not as such with models they copy their weight because it looks good or to fit in with the crowd, more so to stand out from the crowd, too teach people not to care what people think, and to follow your dreams, so the social group I would aim for is definitely the inspired audience in the music industry, who are trying to make it, that's why I didn't want my audience to be to young.
The age group i aimed for was 16-20's most likely to be students/musicians in college or university. I didn't want to make it too big or too small audience because it would of been harder to aim for, for example if I did a larger group it would be hard to get the right genre and to use the right language and if I used a smaller audience I wouldn't of got a very big audience. When looking at the magazine you can see that it is about music, therefore it would interest an audience with a musical background however it does also have fashion involved which could make a wider audience. The audience who would buy the magazine would probably be at college or university as I think it's too mature for a younger audience at school and not old enough for an older audience. I think the magazine would be good to be able to be brought in a music shop for example HMV, this is different because not many magazines are sold in them and I think they would get a better audience as it's a music magazine, because the audience who would buy this magazine are more likely to go into a music shop than go into a shop like WHS.

This image represents how I was saying my social group is more so the ones that don't care, the one's who are just looking for a good time, in my magazine it can inspire people to reach their dreams.

I found this video while searching on Youtube.com about music&fashion, I liked this trailer as it shows the girls having a good time and that makes everyone else have a good time, the girls dancing remind me of the girl model on the cover of my magazine and how the photoshoot was, I think it links to my social groups well as they are about the same age, and look like they don't care.

evaluation question 1.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? (i.e. of music magazines)

The title of my magazine falls in with the convention as it's one word, also the fact that it is in capital and because of where it is placed, at the top of the page. One of  the reason's I did this was because most of the magazines I looked at were in the same position, and i think it stands out a lot more as if it was at the bottom or down the side it could be quite hard to read. On the front page the layout is quite similar to other magazines I looked at, firstly the image on my front page was the largest object and then had writing around it which quite a lot of magazines do, many magazines either have just one image of either one person or a group of people, other than the title the image is the biggest object as it the most important because people can see what the magazine is about normally just from looking at an image for example my image was a girl, wearing quite a bright 'trashy' top with headphones on so is most likely going to be a music magazine from first impressions. The genre of the magazine is again shown by the image, also the title links into music, and the genres of music is written under the title so the readers will know what genre it is, I saw this on quite a lot of other magazines, however not the genre of music, I liked the writing underneath the title and thought the genre would fit in well. On each page of my magazine, especially the first and second they are linked to music, also their is a blue theme throughout the magazine, this doesn't have any effect on the genre however I did it on each page so it didn't look messy throughout if I used different colours, in many different magazines there are coloured themes throughout them, however they are normally a white background, because I only did three pages of my magazine I used a blue as I thought it fitted in with my font colour theme. My artist is represented by how she is dressed and the pose, she's looking up into the 'sky' which could mean she is looking into her dreams she also looks quite confident therefore you can tell the artist is not afraid, I dressed her in a simple t-shirt, jacket and trousers, the t-shirt was quite dull so I changed the colour and made it brighter. I took over 100 images of my model, with many different poses and camerawork used, I tried different backgrounds, inside and out, and took photo's from above (standing on a bed), from lying down and pointing the camera up and then from waist and eye height. I did many long shops however the image i chose for my final front cover image was from the waist up, I did this so the t-shirt was involved in the image as that stood out and it linked with music, I changed the colours on the t-shirt of the photo however did not edit the photo except for cutting it out with marquee tool. All of my images were close ups, I did this because I think it gives more detail within the image and you feel closer as you can see the facial body language. The image below shows how my magazine has the same forms and conventions of real media products.

Draft Evaluation.

Name; Jodie
Title; Rewind.

Comments;

Cover-title is good, font is very retro (maybe too so) Image works well. Layout needs attention. More thought to placement of cover lines - text is very thin.

Double-Page Spread- Doesn't work.Top right image is great - others are very weak. Too many columns - you only need four on the left page.

Contents-The guy in the street style photo looks homeless- not what you want! Magazine stops at page 12  spread out pages over a full magazine 60-80 pages. Headings are messy - need work. Page no's to be added. Too many contrasting images on right page. Add imafes to R+P Posts that lack them.

R&P level; high 3.
Practical Draft Level; Top 2/Low 3.

The comments I have been given have made me look at my magazine in a different view, a more professional one. I can see how the layout looks messy and out of place as it was very rushed I will make this much more neat and tidy, i'll do this by changing the titles around and using less photo's, I have already done on this double page spread, I have done this by using one photo, I edited the photo so it looks bigger. On the front page I am going to keep the title however change the font, I am going to be using a block black as this looks more professional and stands out more, although I did want to go for an all colour theme it still looks very efficient, I am also going to keep the front page photo.
